The Magic Candle
A long time ago, there lived a poor traveler who walked from village to village. One day, he found a golden candle in an old cave. The Battle of Surabaya
On November 10, 1945, Indonesia experienced a significant historical event, the Battle of Surabaya. This battle was fought between Indonesian soldiers and pro-independence militias against British and British Indian forces as part of the Indonesian National Revolution.
The fighting reached its peak in November 1945. The city was heavily bombed, and thousands of Indonesians were killed. The fighting began after British Brigadier A.W.S. Mallaby was killed in a firefight on October 30, 1945. This incident sparked anger among British troops, leading to an ultimatum to surrender all weapons.
The Indonesians refused to surrender, so the British launched a massive attack. Despite being outgunned, the Indonesian fighters put up fierce resistance, led by Bung Tomo. B.J. Habibie
Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie, known as B.J. Habibie, was the third President of Indonesia. He was born on June 25, 1936, in Pare-pare, South Sulawesi. He was the fourth child of eight siblings, born to Alwi Abdul Jalil Habibie and RA. Tuti Marini Puspowardojo. Habibie studied at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) before continuing his studies in Germany, specializing in aerospace engineering. The Legend of Toba Lake
Once upon a time, there was a man named Toba who lived in a simple hut in a farming field. He did some gardening and fishing for his daily life.
One day, while the man was fishing, he caught a big golden fish. In a surprise, the fish turned into a beautiful woman. Toba fell in love with her and asked her to be his wife. She agreed, but with one condition: Toba must never tell anyone about her past as a fish. Toba promised, and they got married. They had a son named Samosir.
Years later, Samosir was asked by his mother to bring food to his father in the field. On the way, Samosir was hungry and ate his father's food. When Toba realized his lunch was gone, he was furious. He shouted at Samosir, "You son of a fish!"

RA Kartini: Figure of Women's Emancipation
Raden Ajeng Kartini was born on April 21, 1879, in Jepara, Central Java. She was descended from a noble family (menak) who adhered to Javanese traditions. Her father, Raden Mas Adipati Ario Sosroningrat, was a district head (wedana) in Mayong.
Despite coming from a prominent family, Kartini felt fortunate to receive an education at the Europese Lagere School (ELS) until the age of 12. After that, she was required to undergo a period of "seclusion," according to the customs of the time, which prevented her from leaving the house until her marriage.
To relieve her boredom, Kartini spent her time reading scientific books and European newspapers. Through her friendship with Rosa Abendanon in the Netherlands, Kartini learned about gender equality and the right to education for Indonesian women. On November 12, 1903, Kartini married Adipati Djoyodiningrat. Her husband supported her in opening a school for girls.
