Long ago, there lived on the island of Bali a giant-like creature named Kbo Iwo. Balinese people often say that Kbo Iwo is everything, the destroyer and creator. He was satisfied with the food, but for the Balinese, this meant enough food for a thousand people.
Difficulties arose when for the first time the barns were almost empty and the new harvest was still far away. This made Kbo Iwo go wild because of his great anger. Due to hunger, he destroyed all the houses and even the temple. This made the Balinese people even more angry.
So, they gathered to plan a course of action to fight this powerful giant using his stupidity. They asked Kbo Iwo to build a very deep well, and rebuild all the houses and temples he had destroyed. After they fed Kbo Iwo, he started digging a deep hole.
One day he ate too much, he fell asleep in the hole. The oldest man in the village gave a sign, and the villagers began throwing the limestone they had collected earlier into the hole. The limestone makes the water in the hole boil. Kbo Iwo was buried alive. Then the water in the well rose higher and higher until it finally overflowed and formed Lake Batur. The mound of earth dug from the well by Kbo Iwo is known as Mount Batur.

Long ago in West Java, there lived a writer king who had a beautiful daughter. Her name is Dayang Sumbi. She really liked weaving. Once she was weaving cloth when one of her tools fell to the ground. He was very tired, at the same time he was too lazy to accept it. Then he just screamed out loud.

One day Dayang Sumbi wanted to have a deer's heart so she asked Sangkuriang to hunt a deer. Then Sangkuriang came to the forest with his arrows and his loyal dog. Tumang, but after several days in the forest Sangkuriang did not find a single deer. Then where everything disappeared. Sangkuriang was exhausted and desperate. He didn't want to disappoint his mother so he killed Tumang. He did not know that Tumang was his father. Tumang's heart for his mother. But Dayang Sumbi knew that it was Tumang's heart. At that time, Dayang Sumbi was blessed with eternal beauty by God so that she remained young forever. The two of them do know each other. So they fell in love and then decided to get married. But then Dayang Sumbi recognized the scar on Sangkuriang's head. He knew that Sangkuriang was his son. It's impossible for them to get married. He told her but she didn't believe him. He hopes they get married soon. So Dayang Sumbi gave very difficult conditions. He asked Sangkuriang to build a lake and a boat in one night! He said he needed it for his honeymoon.
Sangkuriang agreed. With the help of genies and spiritists, Sangkuriang tired to build it. In the middle of the night he completed the lake by building a dam on the Citarum river.
